Google has been testing allowing retailers to add listings to Google Shopping for free for a few months. This month Google has announced that it will be opening the free listings to retailers in the UK.
Traditionally the Google Shopping platform has been limited to customers willing to pay using Google’s pay per click auction bidding. The paid ads will still appear on the platform alongside the free listings.
Google is the latest decision the company has taken to try to compete with Amazon.
This change will help small to medium sized ecommerce retailers in the UK, especially with the recent pandemic affecting sales.
